Ingredient Attributes
Tier 1 Attributes

Tier 1 Ingredient Attributes require the submission of test data for third-party review. Tier 1 attributes are considered to be key attributes for determining whether or not an ingredient will support environmentally preferable product formulation.

Tier 2 Attributes

Tier 2 Ingredient Attributes are required if known and are self reported. Tier 2 attributes are also important for characterizing ingredients for environmentally preferable product formulation but do not require the submission of test data for third-party review.

Tier 3 Attributes

Tier 3 Ingredient Attributes are voluntary but environmentally relevant. Tier 3 attributes are intended to provide a place for information that supports broader environmental perspectives such as life cycle assessments, risk assessments, or information on other environmentally relevant product features (for example, features related to the performance of a cleaning product in cold water, a proxy for energy savings).

Tier 4 Attributes

Tier 4 Ingredient Attributes comprise those that were considered by the relevant TAC but were not recommended for inclusion in CleanGredients® at this time.
